I had a little ID marathon yesterday as I have amassed a ridiculous amount of apples over the last few weeks, and really need to sort them out.
This is but a small selection of them 😬
This one is very like Limelight (which is a cross between Discovery & Greensleeves). It’s from a street tree so we have no idea if it will be a known variety or just a seedling. However certainly one worth picking in future 😋
Another street tree of unknown origin, this one was found in the groves. I feel it will be best picked and eaten earlier in the season. Although it keeps, flavour not what it was. Further investigation required next year.
This is one @singingfoodie flagged up. It’s on little hob moor behind the fence of the railway line. Again tricky to know origin of. Seems to share a lot of characteristics with Monarch which is a dual purpose Apple.
Also on little Hob Moor behind a house so much more likely purposefully planted and very much a Bramley
These are from a pick and I’m thinking Laxton’s Superb
This is one of the apples @THCCentre that I picked over a month ago. The ones on the tree should be ready now, and I am confident that it is Mutsu (or Crispin), one parent is Golden Delicious.
