I have been asked a number of times recently how I define "trans".
Here goes.

We need to stop using the word trans for anything other than transsexual. This was always the case and it is disingenous when many describe themselves as trans. "Trans" what?

But what about TS?

1/?
Transsexualism to me will always be a rare severe psychological disorder caused by the debilittatting impact of gender roles and expectations coupled with body dysmorphia.

I believe it is a learnt behaviour. Noone is born in the wrong bòdy.

2/?
I come back to a brilliant statement I from my psychologist.

Gender reassignment is for those who desperate want rid of a penis not those who would rather have a vagina. This seems very relevant today. It is a last ditch surgery that comes at tye end of a long path.

3/?
Blanchard pushes two types of TS - AGP and HSTS - both linked to sexual orientation. Many disagree with this over simplification and the black and white nature.

The best description I have heard for many is that transsexualism is a PTSD over the sexed body.

4/?
If you dont have a profound discomfort over your natal anatomy then how can anyone claim to be trans anything?

That to me is TS.

We need to be acutely aware however that transsexual has faced the same erosion as other words.

5/?
A TS person is observed not by their labels but by their actions and behaviours. If a TS tells you about their lady dick thats no TS!

Calling oneself a TS is not a free pass to bypass the TRA agenda.
