PSA: I was hacked (40k USD). Secure your metamask with a ledger.

I had ledger + metamask, and it was causing issues with my trading speed, so i stopped using it. I got a false sense of security because I work in cyber security and I can generally spot phishing links/sites.
When i originally setup the wallet, sometimes i could confirm transactions (with my ledger) and sometimes it would just fail over and over and it was costing me money from the delays. So, I stopped using it and never revisited the issue (obviously my fault).
Then I guess as time went on, i started keeping more funds in this one wallet and doing bigger transactions in a single wallet because fees are so damn high on ETH and i mostly trade on uniswap.
I only had metamask connected to 3 sites that hundreds of thousands of people use daily. I have network traffic monitoring, i use 1.1.1.2 for DNS, i have malwarebytes premium. I don't do weird shit on this computer (no porn). I keep this computer very clean.
I professionally stop hacks from happening on a daily basis. That's my job.. and I'm still susceptible to this kind of thing. I know i don't have a ton of followers, but let this be a wakeup call.. YOU ARE AT RISK. DO NOT.. for any reason, think you're too smart to get hacked.
Don't feel bad for me.. that's not the point of this thread. The point is wake up and secure your funds. There are so many different ways to get hacked that its not worth the risk, even if you think you're smarter than everyone else.
This ended up reaching a lot of people. Many have told me they purchased several ledgers because they were in a similar situation. Hopefully this helps others avoid any future losses.

PS @Ledger you can send me my sales commission any time.
