Apartheid left many painful legacies behind. A thread.
Coloured people (not all but very many) were conditioned during apartheid (along with all POC and Black people) to believe white people are superior to us financially, socially and intellectually.

The result: The Rayner a/c. The self hatred, individualized insecurities & hero worshipping of white people, most especially white supremacists, coupled with the idea that Black people are inferior to Coloured people & the animosity towards a predominantly black run government.

Racists almost never want to be labelled as racist. The hardcore ones don't mind. They wear it like a badge of honour. Others like Rayner, prefer to camouflage their racism by claiming rights over their degree of melanin as a justification for their hatred for Black people.

Remember: A relationship with or marriage to a black or white person does not preclude people from being racist. There are white people married to POC and/or black people who are extremely racist.
They use their partner of colour as justification for their argument of not being racist.
Similarly there are black people STILL hankering after white people's approval (Unathi, Sihle, Phumlani), citing "intellectual liberal black wokeness" as justification for their racism.

I haven't touched on the Indian community. Allow me a moment. I grew up in a mixed Indian & Coloured community. Very many (not all) Indian people display despicable racism towards Coloured and Black people. "Their brains are as twisted as their hair," is not an uncommon phrase.

The TRC hearings did not, by FAR, deal with the apartheid govt's crimes against humanity! Too many were given a free pass merely because they admitted to their hate crimes.
The result: Racists are STILL extremely emboldened in South Africa!
Our country is far from healed.
