It's been 8 days since I have been diagnosed with COVID-19. Here is my honest assessment of the disease/pandemic and all the information/mis-information around it. It all started with my Dad falling sick on Friday - 25th Sept. His office told him to get tested . Good decision.
He was sick with fever and cold on Saturday, when he got tested. Sunday was better but both me and my sister woke up with fever, cold and a general weakness and bodyache. This persisted throughout the day. My Dad told us to get tested as his results were most likely to be +ve
He was shifted to a local COVID observation center as we thought it was the best idea for a 50+ y.o. for all "just in case" scenarios. Me and my sister woke up on Monday with no fever but cold. I had bodyache but she was feeling better so she suggested we start with the home qua.
We got tested on Monday. Her results came within 6 hours but my results came on Wednesday due to some delay at the testing center. By Monday I knew internally that there was something wrong. I had lost all sense of taste and smell. Could not even get a whiff of sanitizer.
We started our home quarantine instantly as we could afford to do it. My angelic sister has been taking care of me that way. Her test was negative so we had to take extra precautions. The usual meds started - Zinc, Vitmain C supplements. My results came after 48+ hours
More than supplements the best therapy has been steam and drinking/gargling hot water. I would advise anyone with mild asymptomatic symptoms to push more for the latter than medicines. Medicines are just to improve immunity, steam/hot water actually kicks the virus from the lungs
Within 3-4 days I had no symptoms of fever, cold or bodyache. Just no taste/smell - this has been proven to be #1 most reliable symptom of COVID-19 in various studies across the globe. (I had a lot of free time to research everything about COVID-19 hehe)
The intensity of the virus has also dropped down. The age factor for at-risk patients has shifted from old age factor to previous ailments factor. The virus is also mutating as we are building immunity but overall it's strength has weakened.
Mortality rates in 50-60, 60-70, 70-80 age brackets have reduced so doctors are focused on treating patients with existing ailments - hypertension, diabetes, asthma. The most annoying thing has to be the lack of taste and smell but I feel super privileged saying that.
I can function and we can home quarantine but a lot of people cannot so if you feel the need please contact local authorities. They will guide through each and every aspect of the process but they are in turn dependent on the lab results so the faster you test, you will get help.
I already feel better (actually feeling like this since T+2). I try to occupy my time by reading, finishing up old tasks, doing some work which I can, staring out of the balcony. Boredom can creep up faster so try to build schedules and follow them religiously. It's easy.
It is not scary, COVID-19. Follow these steps -
Isolate
Steam
Schedule

If you are asymptomatic, nothing will happen. It will just pass by like normal flu. Also thanks to a lot of people who were super helpful with all the help and suggestions.
You will receive a flurry of help from all directions. Please keep your source of information one and try to follow that. People will try to help, you need to be judicious in following advices. All over the place is all over your face, take care of excess information.
Stuck in a room since 7 days but @21savage dropped Savage Mode 2 and that killed all virus haha thanks Young Don. You can try this sonic therapy too jk. Take care and keep sanitizing. Hit me up if you want anything, I can help you filter the noise. Cheers, love. <3
