I cannot tell you guys how much I agree with this sentiment and how I've really danced around the topic itself for fear of either some kind of retaliation from either YouTube or my audience for criticizing the platform/video performance etc.
I really do believe that right now whatever is going on with the YouTube algorithm is stifling creativity quite a bit. It's making it very hard for channels like myself that have never just focused in on one thing to actually grow and attract viewers to new subjects I care about.
The most ironic thing about this is that channels like mine are the ones being punished. Channels that don't want to just cash in on one topic soullessly. I understand that some people can do that and it's not soulless for them, but for most people it would be and is, and it's
Just ironic that well late night shows and other corporate content flourish on YouTube smaller creators like me and other people who are really trying new things and care about every single thing we make are just taking a gamble on if anyone will even see the video was made, let
alone watch it. If it was just that my audience didn't care about anything except one thing, fair enough. I still wouldn't do just that, but at least it would make sense. But from all my subs I talked to and everyone else, people aren't even seeing a lot of my videos right now.
look I'm not going to pretend I'm the best creator out there. I know I'm not. I learn new video editing techniques and new ways to speak etc every time I make a video. I'm an amateur even after years. But it's just frustrating to care this much and have a machine tell me NOPE.
