so I put in for maternity leave in July. My due date was Aug 28th, so I gave them plenty of notice. My sup told me to put in for at least a week before the baby was due.

The leave of absence lady told me I’ll have to send the FMLA form after I have the baby. Fast forward

I talked to the leave of absence department again Sept 9th. They emailed me the FMLA paperwork, said send it over to my Dr and have them fax it back. The form asks when the baby was born, if there were complications that require me to extend the leave, etc etc. Cool ok

Mind you, the form says the paperwork must be sent back within 15 days.

They called again exactly one week (7 days!) later saying my leave was denied bc I didn’t get the form back in time. But wait!

They said “you put in for your leave in July and it is September, we haven’t received your FMLA paperwork so we couldn’t approve the leave.”

...how am I supposed to complete this when the baby wasn’t even born yet

So they tell me to get the doctor to send it immediately and they’ll “reopen my case”.. my sup call me talking about get it done or ima be “in trouble”.. girl bye. Y’all not even paying me.

Speaking of, there was a way to get paid during leave but the jig is

I would’ve had to apply for short term disability to receive only a measly less than 40% of my normal pay, biweekly.

BUT since they denied my leave, I can’t even apply for that lmao. So I have zero income from my place of employment while being a new mom. A joke.

Which is why I have been boosting my art so much. I been getting by because of y’all.

I hate to sound like I’m begging for sales, but I don’t wanna just be like PLS CASHAPP ME! Lol like at least y’all would be receiving something for your funds

Moral of the story, I hate my job. I am very frustrated. I hate how employers treat new mothers/parents. Everyone sucks. Please buy some artwork. The end.
