Before this series is over, I'm going to tell the story of when Jimmy Butler came to the Escape Room I was working at (the day after he was traded from Minny to Philly)
Ok, I guess I'll tell it now. I was working a shift at the front desk when I heard a voice that sounded familiar. The person wanted to book a room for that night, but I but him on hold (I forget why). But I'm bad at working the phone so I accidentally hung up on him.
Anyways, he called right back and booked the room, and his card had the hometown of Tomball on it. That's when I knew it was Jimmy Buckets. A few hours later, JB and a few of his friends walked in. Jimmy gave an alias at the sign in iPad and was wearing a sweatshirt...
and two hoodies in the hopes that no one would recognize him. I was not the person operating his game, but I remember his group did not solve the room and he was disappointed.
My friend and coworker tried to take a pic with him in the mall, but he didn't want to be seen and walked right out of the mall. To this day, I regret not trying harder to ensure I was the game operator for his group. That would've been wild.
I don't agree with how he forced his exit out of Minnesota (the whole situation was very complicated) , but he's a one-of-a-kind dude that's improbably forged his own path to superstardom. I have a lot of respect for that.
