this song is straight up about bearding and being closeted. the song is literally called Out of the Woods. i personally think haylor is a double beard. now let's get started.

taylor literally describes the world as "black and white" aka the "straight" world. her and harry were screaming colors, the "lgbtq" world.

"the woods" is a direct parallel to the closet. they are in the closet together. She is asking harry if he is ready to "get out of the woods". get out of that dark place, and except their sexualize. "are we in the clear yet" could link to actually coming to terms with themselves.
the chorus repeats over and over again. it's reassurance. they know their relationship is pr. which brings me to my next point.

taylor and harry were each others beards. she needed one, he needed one. the relationship sold. in this song she is literally screaming that they were closeted together. she repeats her chorus over and over again, trying to get her message across
