I adore the movie, but nope.
Game Lara at least has her own will and love for the stuff she does, by HERSELF. She’s cultured, loves archeology, and sets her own adventures.
Movie Lara is 100% about her father. Everything she does and who she is, everything is thanks to him. https://twitter.com/moonlighttomb/status/1312881646912385031">https://twitter.com/moonlight...

Game Lara did her own research, and decided to go to Yamatai for her own findings, as well as discovering stuff about Sam’s ancestors. In that trip she discovers myths are real, which made her realize her father was unfairly deemed insane by everyone, including herself.
So it’s only natural she feels guilty about it. Also, after Yamatai, she tried to make her findings public, and it only resulted in her being deemed crazy too, to the point of having self doubt if what she saw was real, so in ROTTR she’s doing it for her father AND herself
SoTTR is simply the natural continuation. If by the end of ROTTR she found out her father was murdered instead of suicide, it would be completely senseless if she didn’t do anything about it. I mean, let’s be real - would you stay still if you found out ur father was murdered?
And by the end, she made peace with it and set herself free to be her own person and live and love her life.
In the movie, it’s simply solved faster because of the silly plot that he’s still alive, and Richard’s end was way less contrived than in the game plot, so it’s (c)

(c) only natural it was “solved” within the plot of a single movie.
The only thing the movie Lara edges over game Lara, IMO, is that she displays her softer, wittier side more easily, where game Lara is more reserved (but still displays that side in the comics).

I know it’s easy to say game Lara is all “daddie issues”, but when you actually dive in to the plot and the nuances as a whole, it’s really not it.
Movie Lara is “daddie issues” amped up to 100% in comparison
