A spend a pretty significant amount of my time thinking about the evils of the CJS, but the news about the prosecutor before the grand jury in the Breonna Taylor case just really highlights how badly the whole system needs to be burned down
The system works exactly as it is meant to. It creates immense harm to the most vulnerable people in our society and actively protects the people who contribute to the marginalization of certain groups.
Sometimes people ask me if I ever consider being a prosecutor so I can "change things from the inside" but I don't believe a system this massive and evil can be sufficiently changed by individual well intentioned actors.
I've spent years of my life working to get into this broken system, and the only way I can fathom doing that is in a position where I'm working to claw people back from the system that is pulling them in.
