Lets talk about Yona of the Dawn chapter 197 (Thread)

We learn a lot more about King IL and his feelings on the aftermath w/ his brother and his relationship with kashi/Yona/Yon- hi and the most important thing to know is

King IL has issues communicating his thoughts/feelings+

This led to many misunderstandings the biggest being with Yon-hi she felt burdened/heavily responsible for the destruction of the religious group and Kashi’s death

She felt like she drove Yun-ho to that massacre and she tore the brothers apart and didn’t try to understand him

This feeling tormented her all the way to her death

IL wrote her back that he apologizes and actually takes fault for so many of the things that transpired he is inexperienced cowardly shy and held immense jealousy for his brother

IL is not fit too be king and this bred+

People like Soo-Won and many others of the sky tribe to usurp him

However the sentiment that he recognizes that Yu-hon isn’t fit as well is one I can’t share

Yu-hon was revered strong and as ruthless as he was he cared for his people and had the dedication for this role+

Yu-Hon was a pillar for kouka and without him they were significantly weakened and became split into factions

IL grief of killing his brother/assuming a position he was disinterested in plagued him deeply but in the end in his times of distress thoughts of his brothers support+

Advice spoke to him and reassured him

Soo-Won became the center of this storm after learning about the murder of his father by IL he devised his plans to murder IL before he was even 12

But Soo-Won wasn’t rash and similar to his father was able to draw in people to him+

He decided he’d be the judge of IL’s future he’d decide whether or not Il should live

If IL demonstrated weakness and led kouka to his downfall he’d kill him and assume the throne no matter what and if IL did right Soo-Won would put his own personal feelings aside+

And allow IL to be king but as we know IL was not a good king

Because of his guilt of murder and driving his family apart and the fear of committing wrong he advocated for peace no matter what he subdued to other countries didn’t build his military secluded his daughter+

Lost the faith of his people and caused several economic and political disadvantages to the country by turning a blind eye he caused his death and Kouka downfall

Leading to Soo-Won and Yona so desperately Piece back together this country for no matter how long it takes+

His irresponsibility and negligence caused so much to his kingdom the words of Yu-hon didn’t reach him but his obsession with his religious faith and the fact Yona is King Hiryuu led him to be naive in thinking it’ll be fine to be just a place holder since the gods on his side+

He accepted the fact the Soo-Won would kill him and allowed it to happen even though he had all this information at his disposal and despite his regrets treated Soo-won coldly often after his parents death

Soo-Won as well allowed the problem to fester by staying close to Yona+

This weakness in his heart and affection for her caused him to get caught in the act and is the root of all the tension with the dragons and the kingdom now

This all may be another piece in their fate and there’s several reasons for to blame everyone for this tragedy+

But all in all I think the fault is found and owned fully in IL

Kashi did no more then say her oracles
Yu-hon did his best to protect Yon-hi and the Kingdom
Soo-Won gave IL a chance and rebuilt the country his way
Yon-hi assumed all the blame but still tried to bridge them+

But in the End IL called the shots and made the plays that landed us to where we are he isolated Kashi and Yona assumed power through religious affiliation disregarded Yon-hi and Soo-Won and murdered his brother with a false accusation (for now)+

All of this stemming from the dragons bloodline and the religious faith surrounding it which is why Soo-Won believes in nothing but human faith and wit to survive

He won’t rely on the powers that both built and destroyed the kingdom but instead Trust what he sees and knows

Well if you made it to the End these are just my thoughts and understanding of these past few chapters

And once again Yona of the Dawn drops an 100/10 chapter adding more layers to the story I can’t wait to see what’s next
