THREAD: How can Man Utd help get Dembele back to his best?
Dembele has recently been linked with a move to Manchester United, and whilst some fans have doubts, I am very enthusiastic about the deal. In this thread, I'll go over 2 main things: how he could fit in, and how we could help his injury problems. Let's begin.
First looking at his injury problems. I done a thread recently exposing Barca's poor facilities, so how are United's different? Well first, looking at Dembele's injuries, it seems he has a reoccurring hamstring problem. Admittedly, I am not a physiotherapist, but there are...
some obvious potential solutions here. The first is that he will be training more, and at a higher intensity at United. Barcelona training sessions in the past 3 years have been quite low pace. Indeed the comments of Malcom prove this. Roughly, Dembele would be training...
Double the amount of time (phases in slowly of course), but more importantly, he would benefit from advanced in tactical periodisation. Tactical periodisation, loosely put, is the idea of training the way you play. Training at a low tempo to enter a game with Dembele's pace...
is really hard, as he barely spends any of the short training time at high tempo. At United, he would be able to get accustomed to the higher tempo, which could help him stay fit for significantly longer.
Additionally, something I know many physiotherapists place value on is mindset. Coming to Manchester United with a change of scenary and being around different people including his French teammates Martial and Pogba could help him get a fresh start, and motivate him to be able...
to stay fit, and work towards being on the pitch as often as possible, not just by being fit enough to play, but also giving his all in training and the match to show he deserves to play. Overall this could have a positive impact on helping Dembele recover to his best form.
Now, looking at the tactical side where I do have more knowledge, I believe Dembele would be best suited an a 1v1 specialist on the wide channel. He is lethal in 1v1 situations: has a great burst of pace, highly 2 footed etc. We currently have no wingers, which makes it...
harder to attack through the right wide channel. One rough idea of a team he could feature in, is this. The 325 is a very common structure these days, and, ignoring personnel you may be unhappy with, could be a very good structure for Man Utd. You'd be able to have 1 player...
per each of the 5 channels, the double pivot, and the 3 to build out of the back from. Dembele is also capable of performing positional rotations, as his skillset is diverse enough to play in the half space even. Overall, Dembele would be able to contribute a lot to our play...
including providing an actual wide right threat which we have lacked for a while. Whilst I don't want to go into too much depth into Dembele's skills in this thread, as I'm sure someone has done a better job than I could do right now, I'm sure you all get the idea.
In summary: He would be a massive signing and would hugely help our right hand side dynamics, and it is also likely that we could fix his injury problems, and get him to be the immense player we all know he can be, and the player who can push us back towards winning.
END OF THREAD: Likes and RTs appreciated, hope you enjoyed this thread I made on short notice. Would love to hear your thoughts too. Do you think Dembele is a good signing? Why or why not?
