A lot of people are asking so here are my very detailed thoughts on Matviyenko 🇺🇦:

I've seen him play LCB for the Ukrainian NT a long time, LB for Shakhtar in Europa last season and LCB at Shakhtar in the Ukrainian league.

Matviyenko is a player with very unique player

I want to start by talking about his best attribute. Matviyenko is extremely comfortable on the ball. Sometimes overconfidence may lead to errors under pressure but in Matviyenko's case it's a bit different.

When he recieves the ball he will never make the easy pass

He will look forward every time and search for players between the lines. If he fails to find a suitable pass up front he's forced to make a simple pass but instead of playing it to the teammate he's facing on his left, he feints, turns around and plays it simple to his right.
Yes, he overcomplicates things but it never leads to errors. Matviyenko only does this because he loves to show his ball playing abilities. If he's ever under pressure he will gladly play it simple because passing under pressure is a way of showing off your passing too.

He has a great eye for a pass. Always finds players between the lines or catches forward runs. Sometimes he tries too hard and picks an unrealistic pass. His passes are perfectly weighted.

In defence Matviyenko can be a problem. He commits too much into tackles. On 1v1s he lunges right away and a good dribbler will easily beat him. The reason he defends like this is that he's actually good at reading the opposition's next move so he's confident in his tackle.

He positions himself well and intercepts many passes. I've seen him stop many counters by being at the right place to stop the pass. But his 1v1 defending can really be a problem. In comps he may seem like a good 1v1 defender because they only put the moments where...

...he overcommits once again but the opposition doesnt beat him. Matviyenko has also cost the team a few goals from headers.

In my opinion, Matviyenko defends well in a high line. I especially love his defending on transitions. He immediately leaves his line to stop the threat or stays back and intercepts the pass.

LB is a position he's featured in quite often. Here his 1v1 defending is easily exposed and he doesnt play like a natural LB. Never uses the full length of the pitch because he can't dribble but he puts in great crosses from deep.

I would love to see him as an inverted FB but that's not what Man Utd need at all. He will probably play LCB which is his best position. On the 10th of October Matviyenko will play LCB vs Germany in the Nations League. You can get your first glimpse of him there.

He's definitely an upgrade on the United center backs. It will be a joy to watch his passing in the Premier League. I hope that's helpful enough.
