I just got home from going down to Fayetteville to stand proudly with Kyle Smith in front of his sign that someone spray painted with “No Vote - Queer” within 24 hours of it being put up.

In the time that I was there, I definitely witnessed a few folks who really wanted us to know they didn’t support Kyle.

But...I witnessed even more who smiled, waved, and honked their horns in support as they passed us by.

I haven’t focused much on the fact that I am an LGBTQ+ candidate because I don’t feel it is what “defines” me...it is simply a part of who I am. For me, it’s the same as my hair being brown...I was just born this way and that’s that.

The things that define me are my kindness, my compassion, my passion for making the people around me smile, and my love of laughter.
5.
I am happy to say we did exactly that today on the corner of Mt. Comfort and Rupple Rd. We stood there and waved and gave thumbs up to people. We showed our kindness and compassion. We made a lot of people smile. We laughed and shared stories.
6.
And in turn...we found the ability to keep smiling ourselves.
