6/ SARS CREATION: In 1992, Lagos State Commissioner of @PoliceNG, Simeon Midenda, created a Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), to address the rising incidences of armedrobbery in Lagos State.
7/ Before its creation, in 1992, policemen at a checkpoint in Lagos, killed one Col. Rindam of @HQNigerianArmy, sparking protests by soldiers.

The Khaki boys went on a widespread manhunt for policemen, as they all abandoned their roadblocks/checkpoints back to their barracks.
8/ That period under review, one of Nigeria's most dangerous armedrobber, Shina Rambo, famed after the armed-to-the-teeth Johny Rambo, in the popular Sylvester Stalone movie, “First Blood,” terrorised Lagos and the entire South West, including Benin Republic.
9/ Against this backdrop, CP Midenda created SARS with no fewer than 15 policemen who operated plain-clothed & under-cover in Peugeot station wagons.
