Still thinking about the music industry:
2017: "Did you know that 96% of all internet users consume licensed music? And 46% of all music streaming happens through YouTube?" https://www.digitalmusicnews.com/2017/09/19/ifpi-2017-music-consumer-insight/">https://www.digitalmusicnews.com/2017/09/1...

Here is IFPI& #39;s breakdown of music industry earnings by sector. From their 2020 report (which covers up to 2019)
In the same report Korea was the 6th largest music market again, in fact the order of countries was unchanged from the previous year. However, I guess I have to pay for their premium report to see the financial breakdown for 2019 by country.
Here& #39;s one slide from my presentation-- you can see that as of 2018, the North American market was still virtually unimportant, although it had grown HUGELY from 2016. It& #39;s also worth noting that China& #39;s market GREW despite THAAD
Come to the presentation to hear the points I& #39;m making! https://iks.indiana.edu/news-events/events/korean-culture-webinar-series.html">https://iks.indiana.edu/news-even...
So, KOCCA released a report in Sept. that I& #39;m skimming the section on music for. Here are 20 musical artists/teams who got KOCCA support in the third round of funding in 2019. Did you notice their work? Did KOCCA fund what you think are worthy projects?
KOCCA spent money on bringing global Hallyu opinion makers to Korea, to introduce them to/expand their knowledge of different things in Korea. Do you follow any of these opinion leaders?
When you hear that the Korean gov& #39;t is supporting Hallyu, this is the kind of thing they might spend money on-- a cool trip for some people with big IG or YT audiences-- to try to spread information about Korea and make travel in Korea look attractive.
