Finally finished the first pass of my submissions. Out of the 290, I flagged 111 for a second review. This second pass will determine who I request material from, and this group will be much, much smaller than the 111. #PitchWars (1/8)
If you& #39;ve been following my progress, you know I& #39;ve struggled with passing over people. I& #39;m expecting that feeling to intensify this next go around, since the promise I see is much clearer. (2/8)
In regards to what I hope to ultimately choose, I want to find a story that; 1) fits what I like to read but is unlike anything I& #39;ve seen before, and 2) is something I know how to help. (3/8)
Regarding the first point, you have a clue of what I like based on my wish list, but you have no comprehensive idea of what I& #39;ve seen before, so this will be impossible for you to predict. (4/8)
For the second point, this is a mentorship program, and the last thing I want is to give bad advice. I might be able to tell a story needs help, but if I don& #39;t know how to give that help, I run the very real risk of fucking up your book. (5/8)
In a lot of cases though, the problem is just that the story starts in the wrong place and I& #39;m not sure where it should start.
