9 years ago today, on October 4th 2011, more than 100 Somali students and their parents were massacred in Mogadishu by the terror group Al Shabab, as they awaited scholarship results.
The bombing, which at the time was one of the most destructive terror attacks in Somali history, was eclipsed by October 14th attack in 2017 which officially killed 600 people. This would make the October 14th attack the 5th largest terror attack in history.
As Al Shabab gained mastery of the IED manufacturing process and matured its supply chain, so did the scale of its wanton massacres.
