Although Jimin wrote 'Promise' for himself, it's also his message for all the ARMYs. He wanted to share the message 'Love Yourself' through the song. The lyrics are written by Jimin (in partnership with RM). The song has sweet vocals and soft guitar accompaniment. ++
He wants to say that one should be ones own light so that they can love themselves through thick and thin. This message is not only for ARMYs but also for himself. In the end, he sings that's ARMYs should intertwine their pinky fingers and promise that they'll love themselves. ++
If you have watched the press conference in Jamsil, Seoul on Aug. 26, 2018, Jimin said a heartbreaking line "In case I don't love myself, I don't know whether I was doing well... I blamed myself much. I drank alone, and often had weird thoughts." ++
Hearing Jimin saying these words broke my heart, cuz he always gives his best, he is so selfless. He gives his best, just to make us happy and himself proud and shows the world how much talented he is. But acc. to the article, that time he wasn't satisfied & doubted himself. ++
Just to show us his talent, Jimin pushed himself at the edge. Jimin is a perfectionist, and this persona affected him in 2 ways. Surely it made him a great artist which he is today but also because of this, he has hurt himself! Look at Jimin interview from WINGS concept book. ++
April 24, 2018, during Jimin's live ARMYs asked him about his health, because they were worried about his health after 'Burn The Stage'. There were several comments about 'how are you?' ,'how is your health, Jimin?' and much more. ++
To all those questions, Jimin replied,"Don't worry about me, worry about yourselves too. If you're having a hard time, think of me. You'll become happy when you think of me." In fact, he even did a 40 mins live for his absence in Graham Norton Show. ++
He just wants us not to worry about him. He knew after the notice BigHit uploaded, ARMYs would be worried about him. So he came live on October 14, 2018 for around 40 minutes. ++

On 20 January, 2019, Jimin did a live where he emphasised on 'your light' and 'your night'. He wants to be our light because he is so selfless, always thinking about us. He wants to be our shield, he won't let darkness invade our life. He doesn't want our youth to be like his. ++
He being our light, will provide positivity. He won't let us lose our self-esteem like he did in his past. He wants to be our hope, our grace, our goodness, our everything. ++
He wants to be our 'night light' because in many interviews, BTS said that Jimin goes to sleep at 4am, so 'night light'really fits him. Night light symbolizes 'protection against evils and fear at night.' Refer to the picture attached below

'Dreaming about night lights is a great omen that represents that whatever thing that you are afraid of, won't come near you.' -- Jimin wants to be our Night Light so that he can protect us even in the darkness. ++
This is the stanza where Jimin talks with his own persona. Jimin is such a person who can never think of hurting someone, that's his normal state. He is a very delicate person who can never hurt anyone, which also makes him so fragile that he may easily get hurt in anyway. ++
which also mean, that he can easily get hurt by anyone's criticism. He always encourages us to keep ourselves up, and not throw away ourselves to others just to feel accepted by them. He speaks exactly these through the lyrics of this song. ++
"intertwine our pinkie and promise me now!" -- it's for us, ARMYs and his own persona who should take a moment to promise that we will not throw our true selves to others just to feel accepted. ++
NO MATTER HOW LONELY OR DEPRESSED YOU FEEL, YOU HAVE TO PROMISE THAT YOU WILL NEVER FORGET YOUR TRUE SELF AND THROW YOURSELF TO OTHERS JUST TI FEEL ACCEPTED. ALWAYS REMEMBER, INSPITE OF ALL THE DARKNESS AND TURBULENCE, YOU WILL FIND THE LIGHT.
