I wish some industry folks understood that plenty of content creators aren't coming from business professional backgrounds. Proper ettiquette and how to check all the boxes isn't really taught and majority of the time alot of us get one shot to impress or get completely ignored.
I bring this up because as I'm working through a business course, there are things that would have helped me when I started out. But not alot of folks are offering that help from within the industry, just laughing in group chats at how somebody screwed up an opportunity.
Majority of the time, the industry tips I see offered are coming from content creators who now work in the industry in some way and usually within marginalized groups because theres so few of us. I understand its competitive out here but not everybody has the coin to go to a GDC.
A good thing coming out of the pandemic are the online panels and levels of accessibility right now. I've gained alot of knowledge that I know I would've had no access to if we werent all stuck at home. I hope theres more of a balance in the future with how resources are shared.
Also I want to just say, I'm not talking about people being entitled, rude, or disrespectful during conversations. You don't need previous experience to be a decent human being. Thats just common sense. Just making that clear.
