So... I started @SchittsCreek right after they swept the Emmy’s. My child was 8 then. I give a lot of flex letting him watch shows with mommy. Sometimes he was into it, other times not and sometimes I told him maybe that scene or episode might not be appropriate...

Now, a lot of times, mommy got uncomfortable. I’ve taught him much but a lot of old “norms” crept into mommy’s brain. I resisted all of them and chose NOT to add commentary or explanations. “Have I set the foundations?” I asked myself...
He watched David and Patrick and their relationship unfold. From the first meeting to first kiss to coming out to the wedding in the series finale.

Love is love. Parenting is not easy. But you know, kids get it. And it’s really us grown ups that need to re-wire our preconceived notions of what we were maybe taught or what we are supposed to teach them.
