Have you ever had Indian Pizza?

My 2 favorite types of cuisine, smushed into one delicious combo.

And... it was invented right here in SF, back in 1986.

quick thread
Dalvinder Multani (AKA Tony) worked at a pizza place in New York, then moved to SF and bought a pizza place; all he could afford was shop in a rough neighborhood south of the mission; The Greek owners had called it Zante's, they retired and sold it to him for cheap.
He kept the name out of deference to his Greek landlord. He sold pizza by the slice, but he and his Indian staff liked to eat Indian food, so they started making it in the restaurant for themselves... then tried putting it on the Pizza crust... and the Indian Pizza was born!
Originally just for staff, he tried selling it to some of his customers, who really liked it!

Over the last 34 years, the place has become an institution.

I first had it on my first visit to San Francisco, in 2005, and I was HOOKED. I ended up eating it 3 days in a row!
I've since had Indian Pizza all over the place, including in India.

You might think that Indian pizza was a thing in India, but actually Pizza in India was disgusting until the 90's when Dominos arrived (and now there is plenty of good Indian Pizza in India)
So get some Zante's today! Free delivery all over SF. http://www.zantepizza.com/

Other favorites are Golden Gate Pizza (great to get when at Ocean Beach) and Can-Am pizza in Seattle. What are your faves?
