LotR characters and if/how they wear masks: a thread

Bilbo Baggins: yes, but only because Frodo forces him to

Frodo Baggins: of course

Samwise Gamgee: of course, and bought all of the other hobbit’s masks

Merry Brandybuck: didn’t plan on it, but hey, it’s a free mask. “Thanks, Sam.”

Pippin Took: he would, but he always forgets his

Aragorn: he didn’t when he was a ranger, but started to when he joined the Fellowship. When he became King of Gondor, he gave every citizen of Gondor one.

Legolas: Thranduil bought him these over the top post-apocalyptic ones and Legolas absolutely hates them.

Gimli: he attached his to his helmet to keep it off his beard

Gandalf the Grey: yes, only it it was silver
Gandalf the White: doesn’t care enough too

Boromir: he mentioned masks ONCE around Denethor and he bought Boromir like a hundred of these super nice black ones that matched his outfits

Saruman: “no ”

Elrond: doesn’t leave Rivendell, so he seems it unnecessary

Arwen: Elrond won’t let her leave Rivendell, so she doesn’t either

Galadriel: she literally can’t get sick, but she KNOWS she looks good in a mask

Haldir: doesn’t feel like it. Says they “aren’t fashionable.”

Sméagol: yeah, but he has no clue how it works
Gollum: refuses to

Theoden: has one for each of his outfits. Issued gold ones for all of Rohan

Éowyn: likes to make her own masks, but she’ll wear her gold one as a back up

Eomer: keeps a spare in his helmet

Grima: only when people are looking. Hangs it on his ear for quick equipping. And when he puts it on, he forgets to cover his nose.

Faramir: Boromir gave him some of the ones Denethor bought because he didn’t give Faramir any. When he met Éowyn, she made him a matching one.

Denethor: “no ”
