i'll never shut up about baekhyun's vocals but let me talk a bit about his mind
i was struck by how the acting in As You Wish was his push. baekhyun's never been that into acting and that was fine by me. now that we know so much of superM's great content this year was his ideas, i have a deeper appreciation for his creativity and mental propensities.
we've seen him take to leadership with incredible flair - brave, responsible, sensitive, capable, and sooo funny. he's a demonstrated exo loyalist (to even suggest otherwise is so insulting), so it makes the fact that he's doing so well for superM really amazing. that's range.
fanservice has always come naturally to him. the dude has a fanservice bonus track on his solo debut album but that's not his only motivation. he's wanted to get closer to fans for years, and his fan communication is PIONEERING. on insta, youtube, twitter, vlive etc. (my thoughts
re: lysn/bub are not fit for public twts, dm if interested.) my main point is that baekhyun's excellence in this particular aspect is astounding especially versus his company's ineptitude: listening to fans. other than making pop music i love, SM is often woefully clueless.
to be fair, it's dangerous territory. fans are many things, including fickle and stupid, and thus shouldn't always be listened to. but baekhyun's intuition, people skills, and work ethic are clear as day when we see his finger on the pulse of what fans want, and the intelligent
choices he makes, incorporating what HE wants. it's super smart and impressive. with this round of superM promos, i see that he's not only responsive, he's ahead of the curve, working to the bone and serving up things fans didn't even know we wanted. hard fought and worth it.
since covid struck the most important income stream in his industry - live concerts - he's been the furthest thing from a petulant diva. his mind has been running miles, and miles ahead. it makes me trust him a lot, and very excited for his long future career.
