//chapter 87 spoiler//

I often think about Harukawa’s note to check how bright or dark the character's eyes are as a guide to their mental state or how tainted they are.
I always saw Ryu's eyes as so pitch black, nearly never showing the sparks of light as those of other +
characters.
Does that mean he won't be able to come to the side of light, I thought? After the recent chapter it made me think, that it's more like Ryu never gave himself the chance, because he always knew that his disease is a gradual death sentence anyways.
And on the other hand Ryu's eyes are so /huge/, that they can also make him look like the young teen he actually is.
Dazai can't undo what happened back when he was his mentor. He wasn't in the shape to be the emotional support, Ryu would have really needed and his way to make that up, is by acknowledging his former protegés growth.
Even though Dazai always planned to create a next generation Double Black, he raises Atsushi the way he thought Oda would have had.
Considering Dazai's past he might not be the one, who can drag Ryu to the side that saves people, but he sees the person, who is capable of doing that in Atsushi. Atsushi as Ryu's "Odasaku".
It's not just about forming a new SKK, but also learning about friendship and trust - a re-occuring topic in BSD. That's why I want to believe nothing else, but them being alright in the end; Ryu and Atsu reaching these goals safe and sound! ♥
