Popped ENOLA HOLMES on while I worked today and loved it so much â @Milliestopshate is brilliant. The perfect shot of fun, feminism and floriography

A little puzzled by why they're considering a spin-off with Cavill's Sherlock, though. I liked him a lot, and I'd like to see him in another installment about Enola, but I'm not sure he needs a whole film of his own.
It skirted the ânot like other girlsâ trope â I think it just about missed it, by the skin of its teeth. I would have appreciated more insight into both Eudoria and the Dowager, though, since so much of the story revolves around Tewkesbury. Eudoria's story kind of trailed off.
My main criticism:
A certain character [spoilers] is implied to be willing to commit terrorism for her beliefs, which should have been properly discussed and concluded if they were going to raise it as a possibility. It was strange that they didn't really address that.

That's a big omission. There's so much good about it, but that subject isn't one you can pick up and drop casually.
The main story was very engaging and felt feminist, but I think some of the background threads and characters could have used more careful work and consideration.

Anyway, overall it's worth a watch and I do hope we get more, especially if (1) a sequel resolves some of those issues, and (2) if the sequel is about Enola again, perhaps working with Sherlock, but not on the sidelines of another film about him.
