There is some discussion in my local toxic Facebook group for parents of autistics today. A local teacher made a public post bragging that she denies her class fidgets and similar regulation tools because she could train it out of them.

Obviously there is debate. Personally I don’t think this person should be teaching since they have 0 understanding of disabilities and lacks any compassion at all.

Those defending this teacher insist that children should be taught that small accommodations shouldn’t be available to children because they won’t be available a adults. To that say 1. Why not? 2. They aren’t adults.

9 am and so much abelism right here in my local group. It’s gonna be a long 13+ years of fighting for my kids to have an equitable education in Alberta.
