Such a shame to see Cineworld closing it’s doors in the UK. I’ve always loved films and would look forward to going when I was a kid. There used to be real buzz about going to see the latest releases. I think a lot of things contributed to Cinemas decline? Things like...
The availability of illegal downloadable copies (gone are the days of one dodgy vhs tape doing the rounds), having to take out a small mortgage to afford the pic n mix, the advent of numerous streaming services, people wanting a more immersive experience and now a global pandemic
Have all helped drive a nail in the coffin of cinema. Introducing better seating, food, drinks and screens is fantastic but probably a decade to late? It will be a very sad day if Cinemas disappear for good. The thought of our children not being able to experience the excitement
of watching a film on the big screen, or a night out with your mates to see the latest blockbuster together and delving into those big buckets of popcorn that never seem to end? It will be a real shame.
The first film I watched at the cinema was Herbie Goes Bananas. The happy memories of queuing up outside Bolton Odeon with my Mum, clutching a small bag of butties and a bottle of fizzy pop will always stay with me. I also remember witnessing Jurassic Park on the big screen.
Myself and my mates couldn’t believe what we were witnessing? That first reveal of the dinosaur and Sam Neil’s Dr Alan Grant scrambling to take his glasses off was amazing! To quote another great part of Cinema history...
All those moments will be lost, like tears in the rain.
What was the first and last film you watched at the cinema?
First - Herbie Goes Bananas
Last - Deadpool 2
