Captain Luke Ryan, smuggler & privateer. Luke was born in the smuggling hot-spot of Rush Co Dublin, he sailed his smuggling sloop The Friendship between Rush and France carrying Brandy and Tea. He was eventually caught and thrown in the Black Dog prison where he escaped.

He sailed the Friendship to France where he agreed to sail for the American government against the British as a privateer. He captured over 100 ships in his career and raided several towns. His activities in his now renamed ship The Black Prince caused panic along the coast.

He eventually ran out of look when he mistook two English warships for unarmed whalers. He was put on trial but to avoid diplomatic problems with America was released. He was left penniless however and died in debtors prison.
