good morning everyone, i want to take this time off to appreciate everyone who reached out via calls, dms and other mediums. thank you and may God’s guidance and protection continue to be our lot. https://twitter.com/thedilichi/status/1312501021587906560
i was in company of two friends from the island and we had to drop one off at obanikoro, we did and were headed towards home in gbagada, at around bertola in anthony, some plain cloth officers flagged us down and asked us to identify ourselves. 2/
we did and while some frisked the trunk, the other 4 were scrutinizing our phones and the compartment of the car. keywords like ‘client’, ‘dolls’, ‘bitcoin’, ‘pick’ were searched on whatsapp in my case and in the mails, some old campaigns and jobs gave me up maybe.
we were at that point profiled as fraudsters and in their words will have to follow them to the station, arguments ensued and they cocked their guns, by this time, slaps had already gone round, it was getting dark and that alley was quiet except for vehicles that were passing. https://twitter.com/tyek000n/status/1312672742278299648
at that point, i sensed trouble and dropped a message for my friends @TheDilichi @iamJokunle @Biisi96 @Alex_Houseof308 and co and alerted them of what just happened. we were made to park the car infront of niger insurance company and whisked away towards oshodi.
at this point they already took my other phone but made sure i never dropped the smart phone as i kept updating with live location as we moved (this was paid for with slaps). as we moved, they kept picking more people. they turned under the bridge at oshodi and headed towards/
ikorodu road, they started telling us to help ourselves by bailing with 200k but i kept asking where we went wrong, by this time, we were 5 victims onboard and we approached maryland mall where they asked who was ready to make withdrawals but no one obliged, they monitored/
the environment but didn’t pick anyone there, we then moved toward ojota where more people this time with females were included. the bus was filled now and 2 of them dropped off and we all had to lap ourselves. from there we headed to magodo, i kept updating live locations/
we waited somewhere on CMD road while they kept asking who was ready to ‘bail’ themselves unless they risk a fraud charge. at this point, we that were picked first were brought forward and my shoes and my other phone taken from me. at this point, it got realer. a fresh journey/
we were from here driven towards olowora where bargaining talks was what we did for the better part of the journey and i at this point bargained and pinned at 50k. we were taken all the way down to deeper life camp, i kept updating with location/
we turned on the expressway after waiting on the lonely road with threats of ‘wasting’ whoever won’t comply and dump them’ there. the experience was chilling and traumatic because people ofcourse have been murdered for even less/
i’m the meantime, i had senior police contacts on my phone i ordinarily would have called to trash the event but they deliberately peruses my contacts and made me delete ALL the contacts (my bad was saving names with their ranks). i at this point was rendered incommunicado/
we got to berger at around past midnight and the hunt for an ATM that had cash to dispense began as they swore NEVER to accept transfers. we finally got one and i made withdrawals and handed them 50k cash. while there, i established contact with a guy who didn’t have a dime to/
bail himself and promised to help him reach his folks so they’ll atleast track him but the contact up till this moment won’t connect. the last conversation with him had him telling me they’ve been tagged as caught with loud, as their vehicle wasn’t numbered and no form of ID/
whatsoever, i was dropped of after they collected my shoes, shirt and was left with a roundneck underwear while they zoomed off with the others who couldn’t make bail leaving me to my fate and counting losses.
obviously, dressing & looking good as a young nigerian now counts as a heinous crime because there’s no other explanation for this particular event as i absolutely saw NOTHING wrong. there are no safe precautions/tips to offer here bcos any1 absolutely male/female can fall prey.
for those asking for evidence, it was an unmarked white volkswagen bus (those types used in lekki) with nothing to identify them with, the only obvious pointer they could be policemen was that the guns had police colour and number.
@deborahetim_ sent me money for taxi fare as i was depleted financially. we’re going to pick the car we left infront of niger insurance anyways.
with all due respect, as parting admonition, i’ll say a big FUCK YOU to @MBuhari @ProfOsinbajo @PoliceNG @PoliceNG_CRU for going to sleep while an innocent tax paying citizen was left to his fate in the hands of unscrupulous policemen. this rain? e go fall on everybody! peace ✌🏿
