I wonder who died and told Nigerians that we can only progress individually, and not as a collective.

People go abroad and come back to complain about Nigeria, or boast about their experiences.

The ones that come back to build what they’ve seen, are harassed by the police.
I barely comment on politics/government but man, this country does absolutely nothing to make your life better.

How can you wake up to do business and have to consider what to wear, route to pass, fuel/diesel to power your business and 4x4 Jeeps to survive bad roads?
Then you’ll add extortionists with government-issued IDs, just looking for an excuse to corner you and get as much of your hard earned money as possible.

Nigerians thrive abroad, not because of our ‘grit’, but because it’s like our first taste of freedom after a life sentence.
The system has failed, but the people with the power to correct it are benefiting immensely from the failure.

Until it stops being profitable to be corrupt, lies stop getting people into position of power, and poverty stops being a political weapon, we’re fucked.
Typing this thread, I’m reminded that I have to delete it, because all it takes is one overzealous officer to see it, and only God knows what next will happen.

#EndSARS .
Oh yes yes, I spent a night naked in a cell in port harcourt 3 years ago for owning an iPhone. (They asked for 5m)

Even with IDs, my friends and I couldn’t get past the illiteracy barrier to explain our jobs to the men that arrested us, they just didn’t get how computers work.
