A bit of sharing session how @SwkVolunteers & Rumah Sarawak (state govt) assist students and org awam di Semenanjung/Sabah/Labuan amid the pandemic #COVID19

Will explain briefly why certain procedures are necessary.

On 17th of March 2020, OPS Room Rumah Sarawak WhatsApp group was created. In this group ada those from Rumah Sarawak & volunteers from Sarawak Volunteers.

When MCO was implemented on March, Sarawak Volunteers announced on our social media (FB, Telegram, Twitter, Instagram and WhatsApp) how stranded students on and off campus (sewa luar) will be assisted and with our contact info.

It was also shared on YB Fadillah’s Yusof FB page because he is Sarawak Volunteers (SV) penaung.

So the steps are:

1. The team reached out to all wakil pelajar IPT that are Sarawakians from the whole Malaysia and created a WhatsApp group.

2. Identifying which IPT has already given accommodation and food for the students.

3. Those without accommodation, rumah sewa sementara/hotel was provided.

4. Those without food, ada dua cara:

i) we find them a caterer
ii) money was bank in to their wakil

(And before we give the money to the wakil, we verify first whether he/she ada kenderaan utk get food for the rest of their friends from the IPT)

The Sarawakian students from that IPT was also informed that money was given.

5. After that, we have daily updates on status pelajar (refer pic)

Google sheets was also created to key in all the relevant information. Pelajar uni mana, amount duit masuk, status makanan, tempat tinggal etc.

Please take note that the team DONT give assistance to students yg sudah mendapat kemudahan dari IPT masing2.

Why? Because we need to prioritise. Siapa yg lebih memerlukan and what not.

And then do you guys remember how long some students had to stay on campus?

Next step. Bringing them back home, to Sarawak.

This part was hell but wonderful memories.

Many parents reached out to us, our phone numbers time tu dah jadi hak milik org awam. Ada sorg member koyak sampai beli sim baru, dua simcard

Mind you time tu phone i berbunyi 24 jam. All of us mcm tu. >>> ni member2 koyak bersama @aisyaheiryeeza @mnnazmi_95

Mcm2 makian dah telan time tu. Yg lawak ada parents demand nak anak mereka first flight home.

Team had to prioritise ikut zon.

Coordinating with IPTs, the parents, the students, MAS airlines, Sarawak State Disaster Management Committee, Police etc.

Really, it was the team work that makes it work.

We all did it. Students were sent home, batch by batch:

Pelajar balik ke pangkuan keluarga :’)

SOP diikuti. Kuarantin 14 hari sesudah tiba di Sarawak. Buses and airplanes were sanitised. Bag2 mereka semua di sanitise.
