Other people can't mute your threads. Stop saying "mute this thread if--." It's not possible!! You have to use a hashtag. I'm sorry, I know we all hate this, but if you truly want people to be able to mute your thread, you have to consistently use a hashtag.
If you're saying "mute this thread" as a "sorry not sorry" to irony-cloak you self-indulgence, you also don't need to do that. Twitter is for talking about yourself. It's fine. No one's mad at you.
This is why I'm a champion of hashtag instead of thread. When you add to a thread, this fucking terrible awful website bumps the first tweet in the thread again. I will be on my deathbed mumbling "even though my girlfriend thinks it's a terrible idea, I'm going to" etc
