I did Econ at Yale and had previous research experience. I still had to apply to 40+ pre-doc positions, do about 15 data tasks while working full time in order to land a final offer. I seriously can’t imagine how this looks for ppl who didn’t have my resume (ie privilege) 2/
So like we can talk about increasing information re these programs all we want, but unless there is structural investment in training the next generation of economists on a wide scale, I can’t imagine how this is going to be any different any time soon. 3/3
Also shout out to my AMAZING bosses @LaurawherryR @smilleralert who have given me the best pre-doc experience I could have asked for! I got very lucky.
