With the news of TPH suspending contact tracing, combined with ballooning turn around time for testing and widespread community transmission, we are in big trouble.
We need everyone’s help to keep each other safe.
Three important points/reminders: /1 https://twitter.com/kellygrant1/status/1312443142554042369
1) Limit your contacts. Many people we called this week with COVID-19 were surprised to hear the result and had no idea where they were exposed. This has changed from early September. In Toronto, people of all ages and in all parts of the city are at risk. /2
2) As soon as you develop any symptoms consistent with #COVID19 or test positive, please SELF-ISOLATE https://www.publichealthontario.ca/-/media/documents/ncov/factsheet-covid-19-how-to-self-isolate.pdf?la= /3
Too many people we are calling went for a COVID test and then felt a bit better while waiting for the results, so they returned to work or went out with friends. If you have symptoms please STAY HOME. And if you live with vulnerable people isolate from them. /4
3)If you test +, tell EVERYONE you have spent >10 mins with closer than 6 feet, from 2 days before the start of your symptoms until when you got your test result, to self-isolate. They should get tested if they develop symptoms. They do NOT need to run out and get a test now. /5
If you are a contact of a someone with COVID-19 you can go get tested, but WAIT ~7 days after last contact. Regardless of the test result, contacts need to self-isolate for a FULL 14 DAYS and monitor for symptoms. A negative test does NOT let you out of self-isolation early. /6
These personal actions are especially important if the policy makers do not move soon to institute broader control measures. /7
