UNPOPULAR OPINION: On our scriptures, their translations and criticism

Rather than accepting our history, our culture, our traditions we have become more judgmental of it. We criticise our own scripture without even reading based on a few verses we get to know from social media.
Rather than judging history from todays perspective, from a modern/western lens read our scriptures and try to understand and construct a social structure/ scenario to understand those verses, their need and what they imply. the social status and scenario of that time play an ..
important role in understanding our real history. We sometimes forget that we live in quite a different society from back when the scriptures were written down and it can be difficult for us to comprehend the actual situation and the context of these verses.
Take Manusmriti for example, many hate it because of a few verses and ignore the 1,034 verse written down. Ironically, not even 1% of the haters have actually read it. If you do actually read it, you'll realise it doesn't revolve around the caste system but it is a book..
that defines the social structure during those days. It talks about what an ideal society is, what's wrong and what's right for a society and its overall growth.
We Manusmriti because of a few verses without even reading the verses before it and after it to actually understand
the context. The real essence of the poem can only be understood after reading the whole poem, you cannot comprehend what the poem is about or what message it wants to give you from a few lines picked randomly.
Manu Smriti are not RULES they are general perspective of the society and what was considered ideal and what was not. Hinduism has some 50 - 100 sprites, maybe even more.
Manusmriti is a book based on the society - the Hindu social society is not based on manusmriti.
Can we for once appreciate our ancestors and their knowledge, their farsightedness that many verses from our scriptures still hold true. Can we appreciate their willingness to seek truth irrespective of the time, situation and consequences ?
