I did not listen to Oaks talk so I can't comment on that, but I will say just telling people to root out racism doesn't do anything. While I greatly appreciate the sentiment, just saying don't be racist does absolutely NOTHING. My counsel to the brethren, would be to start...
saying specifics. For example, lets root out the racism in our hearts by advocating for low income/government housing in our neighborhoods and communities. Let's welcome refugees and immigrants of all nationalities with open arms. Lets acknowledge systemic racism in the church...
and in our respective countries. Let's listen to members of color. Let's allow our children to befriend and date people of all races, ethnicities, and backgrounds. Let's create and uplift more racially diverse religious artwork. Let's diversify church leadership....
Let's acknowledge police brutality. Let's fight for DACA students. Let's stop teaching that curses in the scriptures are about Latinos, Indigenous, or Black people. Let's be open to introducing more diverse resources into our children's curriculum. Let's make sure we support...
leaders that preach for equality, equity, justice, and love. Let us open our eyes to see the beauty in all cultures.

I truly believe if we don't start naming specifics and forcing people to question if their beliefs fall in line with Christs Gospel...
people are never going to change.
