Another thing I'd add to it that I don't think the Lakers get enough credit for (the Heat do this too). They take care of their guys, especially stars.
Kobe got that extension that the whole league laughed at, but you don't think an aging star like LeBron who has bristled at being asked to take less to win appreciated that legacy deal from afar?
I'm not saying its the only reason he came, but them giving him the full max and treating him as a full partner in building every part of this organization has to have helped.
Then go on down the line. Magic got an ownership stake. Kobe still got consulted on stuff in retirement and his agent got the GM gig. Big Game James has been doing TV forever. Basically every role guy that wants it gets at least a shot (if not a recurring role) on Spectrum
People made jokes about the "small-business Lakers" (myself included) after the PPP loan fiasco, but this team really is a small, family business (that just happens to be worth billions).
They have built a real culture here, and quickly, and while LeBron deserves credit for that, so does the FO and ownership group.
Rant over.
Last thing: Obviously the city and the market helps. It's just disingenuous and intellectually dishonest to suggest it is the ONLY reason they win. It helps, but it's not it.
