Added 47 movies/documentaries to my list on Shudder.,,...,.,,I’m gonna try to watch all of them this month 👁👁
Starting today off with Scream, Queen! A documentary about the “gay as hell” sequel to nightmare on elm street.
Next up is Ginger Snaps. One of my all time favorites, a coming of age horror film following two sisters after one has been bitten by a werewolf.
Up next: Prom Night (1980). A slasher film following the story of a killer avenging the death of a young girl who was bullied by 4 guilt ridden teenagers.
Need something a lil more light hearted so next is Elvira: Mistress of the Dark, a comedy about the famed horror hostess moving into a small, unwelcoming town to claim her inheritance.
Now watching - Hello Mary Lou: Prom Night 2. Completely unrelated to its predecessor, this supernatural slasher follows a teen girl who is possessed by the angry spirit of a girl killed in a prank gone wrong.
Wasn’t gonna do this one initially cuz it wasn’t on Shudder but I couldn’t help myself, so I rented it. Excited to revisit it after that documentary. A Nightmare on Elm Street 2: Freddy’s Revenge is about Krueger attempting to come back by inhabiting the body of a young teen boy.
Now onto The Void. A cosmic horror that unfolds within a small, bare bones hospital targeted by a mysterious cult.
Black Christmas (1974) is credited as one of the major films that started the slasher sub genre, and follows the story of a killer hunting a group of sorority sisters during a Christmas party.
Moving onto a docuseries now. Cursed Films is a 5 part documentary exploring the allegedly “cursed” productions of The Exorcist, The Omen, Poltergeist, The Crow, and Twilight Zone: The Movie.
In the mood for another documentary so this next one is about my second favorite horror movie franchise after Scream! Never Sleep Again: The Elm Street Legacy is a documentary that takes us deep into Freddy Kruegers nightmare realm as it explores each entry in the franchise.
Now watching another favorite of mine, Wes Craven’s New Nightmare. This extremely meta return to the nightmare legacy revolves around Heather Langenkamp (the actress who plays the lead in the first film) and her son as Freddy Krueger tries to bring himself into our reality.
Forgot to update this but I binge watched all the Scream movies. These tongue in cheek, often meta mystery-slasher films follow Sidney Prescott after the murder of her mother and classmates at the hands of different ghost-faced killers.
This is more of a thriller than a horror but I think it’s dark enough to count. Black Swan is a drama revolving around a passionate ballerina who’s dark side is pushed further and further to its limits by a rivalry evolving into a twisted friendship.
I had no idea this existed so I’m watching out of curiosity. Carrie (2002) is a re-imagining of Stephen Kings story about a troubled telekinetic girl with added emphasis on her past via a series of flashbacks.
Well that was a flop so now watching: Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark, a film inspired by a series of controversial children’s books chronicling short horror stories.
Prom Night (2008) is considered remake/reboot of the original, although the only true similarity between the two is a killer cutting his way through high schoolers for revenge on their big night.
Side note most of these aren’t even on shudder I kinda forgot that’s how this thread started lmfao, I found a lot of these online or rented them. If anyone wants a list of good ones on shudder though hmu
