Thread. As others have said, we can both wish Trump well & hold him accountable for his negligent and reckless behavior that has led to 100K unnecessarily dying and even more millions getting ill. 1/
I pray for the President’s recovery. I also pray (though I think it unlikely) that this experience would humble him & cause him to recognize the mistakes he has made in handling this national emergency. Despite what he has implied, we are still in the middle of this pandemic.2/
Please stop the political tinkering; allow the health and emergency management experts to do their jobs. 3/
I am angry at the continued recklessness. I am angry that public health officials & emergency mgrs advocated activating our pandemic plans in late January & were prevented from doing so because Trump cared more about campaigning & didn’t want to spook the stock market. 4/
I’m angry Trump's rhetoric caused many govn't leaders to delay steps to protect their workforce. PPE was not provided early for our public servants & more got sick than needed to. Good leaders take care of their people. Not coward at the possibility of upsetting dear leader. 5/
I’m angry that Trump’s “coronavirus machismo” and selfishness has led to division and confusion in our country. The mixed messaging on masks and reopening led to a second wave over the summer that was entirely avoidable. 6/
I’m angry most R-officials have given into fear of the Trump & Trumpist media; choosing what they think is the path to win their election & keep their political power over honoring their oath of office & doing what is best for their country. 7/
I’m angry that Secret Service Agents, who sacrifice more than Americans might realize in order to protect our democracy, have been exposed to the virus repeatedly & unnecessarily. They attend all of the campaign rallies where people are not socially distanced & are not masked..8/
...USSS are in close quarters on planes & in cars w/ Trump, his family, & WH staff who are not abiding by CDC guidelines. Recent reporting indicates they Agents are not being provided reliable access to testing, which then puts their families at risk. 9/
Many more men & women that serve at the White House & across govn't are now exposed because of the reckless behavior of Trump and his team. Trump & WH Sr Leaders need to acknowledge their mistakes. Apologize. Purge the officials that have compromised the response. And...10/
...Let public health and emergency management officials do their jobs. We have a couple of months before the worst part of the winter and expected next wave. They may be able to do some good if you let them. 11/
Good leaders put the mission & the needs of those they lead ahead of their own.

I know it's extremely unlikely Trump and his team will change. But we can still hold them accountable. 12/12
