THREAD | RAYAN AÏT NOURI
Wolves fans got a decent opportunity to check out potential new signing Rayan Aït Nouri in a 6-1 defeat to PSG last night. Despite the result, there was plenty of praise for left wing-back. Have put together this thread on his performance! #WWFC
Firstly, a small picture of what Aït Nouri offers. It's a limited sample due to the amount of minutes (broken jaw in January/curtailment of season) BUT evident he is a keen dribbler, not dissimilar to Ruben Vinagre in that respect but is good in the air and pressures well. #WWFC
Last night, he took the third most touches of his team (75) and this was his heat map. As you'd expect he covered the left side pretty well despite the opposition and result, still a key man for his team, especially in possession. #WWFC
One of the first things I noticed about Aït Nouri is he is often in good positions to help his team counter attack. Here are a couple of examples where he is readily available in space. #WWFC
Fans are probably well aware already, but he is very comfortable receiving and playing under pressure! #WWFC
What I also liked about his performance was that rather than trying to whip the ball into the box, he often looked to build his way into the penalty area through a low cross, pass or dribble. Had three key passes in the game. #WWFC
Where can he improve? He did get caught pressing too early once but PSG didn't take advantage. A couple of examples afterwards showing he had learnt his lesson however. #WWFC
Finally, what he may need work on most is his awareness of players running behind or outside of him. One of the goals came as a result of this and PSG came close on two other occasions too. #WWFC
Important to note this is all from one game but a signing to be excited about. Think the way he presses, as well as his qualities on the ball reflect a decent mix of Jonny and Vinagre, which I'm sure Nuno sees as an ideal solution for the squad #WWFC
