I've seen a few tweets which try to cast my reference to SARS as the hunting dogs of the radical left as a sub of @Segalink. They're mistaken.
My tweet was a reference to those who tried to ridicule my reference to SARS as a radical left design. My tweet was a pun. Not directed to Sega because I know his views.
I feel like doing a thread on SARS and why only a radical understanding of it can give us glimpse into what it is. Accuse me of being a radical leftist, I will proudly wear your label like the scarlet letter
To those who think otherwise, imagine the conception of our nation-state and the way hegemony and power are organised around the power elites. Just imagine. Ask yourself this question:
Which institutions of the nation-state help the power elites to secure control of hegemony and power and to protect the nation-state and themselves?
Antonio Gramsci correctly answers you: police, army and the courts.

I agree with him.

The institutions cannot secure control without repression and violence. So, when I say the police are a violent face of the state, understand where I'm coming from.
We cannot interrogate the police, or SARS for that matter, if we don't understand the purpose for which it was set up. SARS merely discharges its role as a repressive tool of our power elites.
If you find it difficult to understand this repressive role, go take a look at the Police Act 2020. Or ask yourself: why is SARS not harassing the sons and daughters of our thieving politicians who drive machines and turn our suburbs into race courses?
It is easy to take swipes at the radical left whose only sin is that it has a better prognosis of the problem the violent nation-state creates.
Finally, police and freedom are antinomies. Don't expect SARS to promote or defend your liberties. If you do, and as Fela said, "dem go carry your bodi go police station, you die unlawfully".
