A thread: The work...

I have a full time job and a family. I spend roughly 20 hours per week advocating. I work to set up forums with candidates for my local NAACP chapter, draft press releases, call state officials and meet with local officials.
This election season, we’ve held forums with candidates for school board, sheriff, district attorney, superior court judge, state court judge, county commissioners, Tax Commisioner and will be talking to US House candidates tomorrow.
I have a standing weekly meeting with a county commissioner, working specifically on reaching #ADOS residents about job fairs and employment outreach.
One of my main focuses since joining the local NAACP has been removing the usage of “Black and Brown” and “minorities”. That alone was a challenge, but with the help of @princss6 and @voteweaponizer we’ve made great strides.
We’ve done everything we can to ensure #ADOS Gwinnett residents have a voice at all levels of govt. One of our most recent efforts has been tackling the discipline disparities that Black students face with GCPS. We helped #ADOS parents get access to free legal representation.
Y’all, this is the work. It ain’t fun, it gets tough at times and can seem like an ever-moving black hole. My sisters @princss6 and @voteweaponizer walk every step of the way with me. I will not back down. Nor will I be told how to defend them or myself. We workin!
