The fact that some of you are diehard Shounen fans and don’t understand the difference between slapstick comedy and scenes meant to be taken seriously (as in actual abuse plotpoints) boggles my fucking mind.
Characters like Sakura, Nami, Winry, Yami, etc are not meant to be interpreted as abusive characters, because pretty much all the instances in which they hit others outside fights (usually the MC) are COMEDY. ->
-> Not only are they comedy, they are usually highly exaggerated. Nami for example, it shouldn’t be physically possible for her to “hurt” Luffy the way she does in slapstick scenes, it’s so blatantly played up for laughs that it’s pathetic people interpret it any other way.
They use over-the-top, cartoonish facial expressions and the MC is fine literally SECONDS later, emotionally and physically. There is no impact on the story, so it might as well have not happened in the narrative.
Comparing scenes like those to ones like Todoroki’s backstory in MHA can only be the result of actual stupidity. The scenes are so different from facial expressions, ost, affect on narrative/char relationships, etc.
It should be SO fucking obvious that these types of scenes are very different from each other, but people want so badly to have a reason for vitriolic hate for characters that utilize slapstick humor that they blatantly misrepresent their own fucking series.
I genuinely don’t care if you dislike any of the characters I mentioned, it’s just so fucking annoying when people recycle and lie about the same two scenes to shit on tweets from fans of said chars because they want to justify their pissbaby tantrums.
Tldr: grow up, admit you just don’t like a character or slapstick comedy instead of repeating the same bullshit under every x-character fan’s tweet you see.
