Animaniacs Fun Fact Thread

1. Spielberg wasn't as involved with Animaniacs as much as he was with Tiny Toon Adventures. But he did approve characters, go over casting, review storyboards, and watch footage when he was available.

2. Pinky and The Brain were inspired by Tiny Toon writers Tom Minton and Eddie Fitzgerald. According to Tom Ruegger, it always sounded like Tom and Eddie were trying to take over the world.

3. Tom Ruegger’s three sons helped influenced the creation of Yakko, Wakko, and Dot.

4. Tom’s favorite characters are Yakko, Brain, and Slappy.

5. As a promotional stunt for the show a giant Yakko balloon was placed upon the actual WB water tower. Unfortunately, nobody told Bob Daly (who ran the studio at the time) about the stunt. When he pulled up to the studio that day (1/2)

He thought the studio was under attack by a giant mutant Mickey Mouse. This incident led to the Warners being redesigned and several episodes being reworked. (2/2)

6. The Monkey Song was almost pulled from the first episode. The Warner Bros. legal team didn't clear the rights to the song until a day before the episode was broadcasted.

7. For the show’s musical track the production used a 35 piece orchestra and 7 composers.

8. The show’s music was recorded at the Eastwood Scoring Stage. Which is where some of the music for Looney Tunes was recorded.

9. When the writers were trying to come up with a replacement for the line ”While Bill Clinton plays the sax” one of the suggestions was ”It’s a show that’s made by hacks”.

10. The show had a higher cel count than most shows at the time

11. Originally there were 4 Warners. Yacky (Yakko) Wacky, Smacy, and Dot. Wacky and Smacy were combined to make Wakko.

12. The Warners were at one point were going to be three duck brothers. This idea was scrapped when the crew noticed that there were way too many ducks on TV.

13. According to the show’s pitch Bible, the Warners are "Cartoonus characterus".
