Trying to be more analytic, I’m thinking about how the people who run the country completely misunderstood the potential of rapid testing to address the pandemic. https://twitter.com/donmoyn/status/1312254440267710465
Their view was you give people a test, they’re negative, and so it means everyone can party.

Under the circumstances there’s no need to make rapid testing broadly available — the point is just for the privileged few to use it to have fun.
The problem is that the tests are not nearly accurate enough for that!

What @paulmromer and others have been saying all this time is that even a mediocre test is very useful at controlling the pandemic *if you use it at a very high scale*
In other words if you test everyone pretty regularly and quarantine the positive cases, even a test that has a high number of false negatives will end up catching a large share of the true positives.
But for that to work you need a program for the whole population!

You can’t just set up a test outside your house and throw parties!
