1/ 2Thread. Today I really understood how witches got burnt. You know the ones, the older women, the ones who never conformed, the ones whom society considers old fashioned.
2/3 The same women who have lived long enough to know that harsh truths are better than pretty lies and are free enough to speak them.
I am seeing women I thought cared about women’s rights distance themselves in case they get burnt too.

3/6 It is easier to burn the witch because to admit she speaks the truth would mean admitting we may have been mistaken.
Today I am seeing the burning of Joey Bright and I know now that witches got burnt because it is hard.

4/6 It& #39;s hard to see beyond the people she named, people we know & like and still see/admit the dissonance about the way they live. It& #39;d also mean walking a fine line between liking our trans friends & also acknowledging the harm this dissonance causes to themselves and to others
5/6 Witches get burnt & #39;cause truth isn& #39;t always comfortable. It oft isn’t nice & isn’t neutral.
I& #39;m not sure it& #39;s worth continuing this fight against stereotypes when I see 99% of those who I thought were also fighting them hastily enforcing them so as to reassure “allies.”

6/6 I have already seen one woman who was called a witch being burned in real life for speaking the truth to power & I don& #39;t think I can bear to witness another burning even if figuratively.
