Woke up w/ my mind doing a list of mental things & included in that was thoughts of BEFORE, DURING, AFTER.

Then putting away a postcard of a #B23 & took a moment to read it.

Freddie was moving to Fort Roberts, CA from McChord Field, WA 13 Oct 1941 & told sister Bonnie Zwicker.
Bonnie was in the hospital in Portland. So on a whim I searched @Ancestry to see what I could find about Bonnie.

She was 10 in 1940. She & bro were kids of Fred & Reata (Hinshaw) Zwicker. A little further digging, she was born Christmas Eve 1929 in #Coquille The sixth child.
She married in 1949, divorced and married again in 1962. She and Norman Green are buried w their son Richard in Astoria, Oregon. Courtesy of @FindaGrave
But what about brother Fred our sender of the note.

Fred worked in #Coquille and was small of stature according to his WWII draft card courtesy of @Ancestry. He also had his appendix removed and knew his mom would know how to find her blue eyed boy.
He would service in the Army during WWII reaching the rank of Tech Sergeant. In 1952, he married Bettie and they lived their lives together until she passed away the year before he did in 1996.

Both are buried in the #Coquille Pioneer Cemetery according to @FindaGrave
A postcard sent weeks before the world would charge and the story after it all changed as well.

A little #ephemeria and a practice of #everydayhistory work in what my kids and I call #historymystery efforts right @emmagraycetf?
