I feel like the struggle I’m seeing people go through about “should I feel vindicated about him getting COVID” is very reflective of “everything is your personal responsibility at all times and how DARE you even THINK of bad things for others”kind of teaching & ITS NOT YOUR FAULT

Like that “oh EVERYTHING that goes wrong? It’s your fault because you didn’t pray hard enough/have enough faith”. But here’s the thing: you didn’t give Trump COVID. Him disregarding the seriousness of the virus for months is probably what led to it. Assuming it’s even true.

(I mean it’s not just Evangelical Christianity that teaches you you’ll go to hell if you think badly of people even if they’re genocidal monsters but that’s what I was raised in so that’s the example I used)

It could very well be a publicity stunt. That would be a horrifying publicity stunt, but, would you really put it past them? I mean after everything, does that really sound impossible? I think it’s true, but I’ll wait to see.

He’s a white supremacist threatening to overturn what we call a Democracy. Under him protestors are being gassed, 200,000+ people have died of a disease, women are being given forced hysterectomies, and CHILDREN are in cages, just to name a few things. He is dangerous.

He is very literally a danger to Black people, Hispanic and Latinix, women, LGBTQIA+ folx,protestors exercising their FIRST AMENDMENT RIGHTS, children, accessible healthcare, and just so much more. We didn’t give him COVID. We don’t control if he gets through it.

Like, you didn’t personally go up to him with COVID and blow or cough aggressively in his face, did you? No, you didn’t. His actions and the consequences he (usually doesn’t) face for them aren’t your fault. He is not a child. He’s the most powerful man on earth.

You don’t have to hold yourself morally responsible. He doesn’t hold himself responsible at all if one or two or over 200,000 people die. There is no obligation to take the moral high ground here. Again: white supremacist.

That said please STILL VOTE. Registration deadlines are coming up and Mike Pence is not better (I’m queer in Indiana, trust me he’s a nightmare). Check your registration. We don’t know what happens next. http://vote.org 

TLDR; you don’t have to pray for Trump. It’s okay to feel vindicated by him getting COVID (if it’s true). He is a dangerous white supremacist. You are not a bad person if you don’t wish him well right now. You’re acting in self defense and defense of marginalized people. VOTE.
